This is a strip I did for a college newspaper around 1992 or
1993. Some of the jokes are a bit dated, but you get the general
idea. Since I haven't had a deadline since college, I haven't kept
it up. In a fit of unmitigated optimism, I submited it to the Boston
Comics News, but the editors - obviously a jaded and jealous group
of failed artists who exist only to tear apart the creations of
the truly talented - rejected it.
But I'M NOT BITTER!!
Anyway, now that I have a venue, I'm posting all the old ones.
I plan to update this collection at such time as I feel motivated
to put some more together.
The name of the strip is Tacksfrie New Hampshire, which
is an inside joke. I grew up on the border, where we lured the jaded
victims of Massachusetts sales tax to our shopping centers, allowing
out of staters to give us all our financing. Every sign reminded
people that they were entering "tax-free" New Hampshire,
which sounded like the name of a town, so I used it.
Trust me, it was funny at the time.
Any resemblance to people I have known, associated with, borrowed
money from or gotten stinking drunk with is purely intentional.
I thank them all for the material they provided, wittingly or not.
Assuming this ever makes me money, I may have to do something about
that.
Currently, I have 7 comics posted. Several more are on the way!
