I went to Parris Island back in the summer of '86
straight out of High School. I finished the 12 week training period
in barely enough time to get my ass into college! I remember my
first week at UNH, standing at attention in front of the professor's
desk, begging to be let into their class because I had missed registration.
"Defending our Nation, eh?" they'd say jokingly. "Yes,
Sir (or Ma'am)!" I'd instinctively reply. It was hard to adjust
to civililian life again.
I joined up with the Marine Reserves, 1st Battalion,
25th Marines, Dragon Platoon in New Hampshire. I made the rank of
Corporal before I was medically discharged because of flat feet
and a busted knee.
